I thought four years was a reasonable lifespan. I first bought this in 2000, and the large colander I use most often has finally worn out. This is my second purchase, considering how often I use this colander.
No problem, it works perfectly, you can use it to wash fruits and vegetables or strain pasta.
Buy it in a physical store so you can see what's in it before you buy. The two largest ones seem to be the same size. Cheap for the quality. Save money.
But I bought it because I really liked the design and ease of cleaning. It's great for pastes and other uses, but not for grains or rice.
The three optional sizes cater to all your needs, from small meals to large families. We love how compact it is to fit in a cabinet. It folds easily and folds up effortlessly.
